Everyone’s game of the week this week should be Georgia @ Bama. I’m very excited for this matchup, it should be one of the best of the year. I’m pulling for Georgia as a Texas fan to maintain the possibility of the #1 vs. #2 matchup in Austin on October 19th. That being said, the Dawgs will have their work cut out for them on Saturday.
Both of these schools have had close moments between both USF and Kentucky. We saw Alabama get back to their normal routine against Wisconsin on the road without any hesitation. They seemed to have recovered very nicely from that USF game. I’m thinking the same thing will happen for Georgia after they struggled against Kentucky. We are going to see the Georgia we are all used to on Saturday night in Tuscaloosa.
Alabama will fight back though, Jalen Milore and this offense are dangerous and can score in a hurry. They happen to be going up against the 2nd ranked SEC defense though, which obviously could slow things down. This game is going to be closely fought and will probably stay close until the fourth quarter where I’m hoping Georgia will pull away from the top of the quarter.
I love that this is a night game and that makes it all the better. I think most people will be siding with Bama here as they are at home and that UK game for Georgia doesn’t look great. Coming out of the bye we can expect that Kirby Smart got these guys right and this is the perfect game to regain their confidence.
Carson Beck and Jalen Milroe will be battling it out at QB, but I think the MVP of this game will be the Georgia defense. They’ve had two weeks to plan against Milore and star WR Ryan Williams. There will be points scored, but nowhere near what these teams usually put up. I think the offensive line of the Dawgs will be more helpful than the offensive line of the Tide as well.
This prediction is no knock at Bama as I think they are a very good football team that will make a lot of noise this year. I just think this game means more to Georgia from the standpoint of we need to win to find our identity again. These are two of the better teams in the SEC and to have this matchup right now in the season will say a lot about the two programs. If Georgia does struggle and lose this game there will be a lot of talk coming out of Athens. If Alabama loses this game there will be a lot of talk about the Deboer hire (it was a great hire).
I’m hoping for a close game because I do like Milore and company and am just backing UGA so they can stay at #2 for that game in Austin in a few weeks. Give me the Dawgs coming out with a win in Tuscaloosa, but not an easy one.
